'The storm' the story about the flood in 1953
Ouwekerk, Zierikzee (Schouwen-Duiveland)
This impressive arrangement shows a clear vision on what happened during and after the flood in 1953. You will visit the flood museum, which is situated in the four caissons. Those are used to close the last hole in the dikes. Afterwards, the guide will take you for a citywalk in Zierikzee and will show you the hight of the water in 1953. Or, you can choose to go on a bustour with an experienced guide.
In Ouwekerk you will be welcomed with a cup of coffee or tea and a delicacy of Zeeland (Zeeuwse bolus).
The Watersnoodmuseum (flood museum) takes you on a journey to discover the extraordinary stories of ordinary people about their experiences with water: the disastrous flood of 1953, the rebuilding homes and lives and the floods that still happen around the world nowadays. The guide will take you on a guided tour through the museum.
After the impressive visit, a delicious lunch is waiting for you in a restaurant. The lunch consists of delicious sandiwches with ham, cheese and salmon and soup. Coffee and tea is served.

Starting in Zierikzee, you will make an interesting bustour in Schouwen-Duiveland. An experienced guide will show you many beautiful places. The landscape of Schouwen-Duiveland reminds us of the difficult battle with the water. The bustour will take 2,5 hours.

The guide will take you for a citywalk in Zierikzee and will show you the hight of the water in 1953.
